Overview
Highly detailed 1/350 scale resin kit of USS Virginia (CGN-38) from Iron Shipwrights. This kit is crafted for the scale modeler seeking historical accuracy and high-fidelity detail, with parts and finishing options to represent the ship in a Cold War era configuration (c. 1985).
Brief History
USS Virginia (CGN-38) was a nuclear‑powered guided‑missile cruiser of the U.S. Navy that served during the Cold War era. Built in the 1970s as part of the Navy’s nuclear cruiser force, she operated primarily with carrier battle groups and on NATO/Atlantic and Mediterranean deployments, providing area air defense and anti‑ship/anti‑submarine capabilities. Like other nuclear cruisers, she was expensive to maintain and refuel; following the end of the Cold War she was taken out of service and disposed of in the 1990s.
