Model History
USS Vestal (AR-4) was a U.S. Navy fleet repair ship that provided heavy maintenance and repair support to warships, enabling fleets to remain operational away from major shipyards. Vestal is best known for her presence at Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941; moored alongside USS Arizona, she was damaged in the attack but survived and went on to perform vital repair and salvage work throughout the Pacific, supporting carrier and battleship operations. After extensive wartime service she was retired and struck from the Naval Register in the postwar period.
Note: “Prometheus-class (1941)” denotes a heavy repair-ship design of that era intended for fleet maintenance.
Approximate Model Length
Estimated full-size Prometheus-class overall length used for this calculation: ~520 ft.
1/350 scale model length ≈ 17.8 inches (≈ 45.2 cm).
Length is approximate — calculation based on a typical WWII-era heavy repair ship length. If you have a specific hull length for the Prometheus class or USS Vestal to use, we can recalculate.
