    USS Truxtun (CGN-35) was a nuclear‑powered guided‑missile cruiser that served the U.S. Navy during the Cold War. Built as a high‑endurance escort and air‑defense platform, she made regular deployments to the Atlantic and Mediterranean, escorted carrier battle groups, and conducted presence and deterrence operations. Like many nuclear cruisers of her generation, Truxtun underwent periodic overhauls and was ultimately retired as post‑Cold War budget and maintenance priorities shifted.
