    Iron Shipwrights 1/350 scale kits are built for the serious modeler who demands historical accuracy and premium materials. This kit represents U.S.S. Sangamon (CVE-26), circa 1944, and includes the components needed to assemble a highly detailed, full-hull replica.

    • Includes: Full resin hull and resin parts, Britannia white metal parts, complete photoetched detail set, Nautilus Models wood flight deck, and plastic hangar deck insert

    Brief History

    USS Sangamon (CVE-26) was one of several fleet-oiler hulls converted into escort carriers early in World War II. Converted from a T3 tanker hull, she served as an escort carrier tasked with convoy and anti-submarine protection, ferrying and launching aircraft for fleet support, and providing close air support and plane transport during Pacific operations in 1944. Ships of her type were workhorses for convoy escort, aircraft ferrying, and amphibious support throughout the war and were largely decommissioned after WWII.

    Approximate Model Length (1/350 scale)

    Sangamon-class length overall ≈ 553.5 ft (real ship). At 1/350 scale this converts to approximately 19.0 inches (48.3 cm) overall. Note: actual kit length can vary slightly depending on how the vendor measures (hull vs. flight deck, bowsprit/fantail details) and any included display base or fittings.

        • Is this a kit that you have already started to build?

          Hi,

          Thanks for the question. 

          No, this is a brand new kit. The manufacturer photos usually show the kit out of the box, so you can see the contents. All of the Iron Shipwrights kits come with detailed, professional instructions. and small pieces sealed in plastic bags.

          If you see pictures of other kits with painted and completed models, you will receive a brand new kit, not a completed or partially completed model.
