Model History
USS Nevada (BB-36) was the lead ship of the Nevada class, commissioned in 1916. She served as a convoy escort in World War I and, after extensive modernization between the wars, became one of the more modern U.S. battleships by World War II.
- 7 December 1941 — Present at Pearl Harbor; damaged by bombs and torpedoes and deliberately grounded to prevent sinking. Later refloated, repaired and modernized.
- June 1944 — Took part in Operation Neptune (the naval component of the Normandy invasion), providing pre‑landing bombardment and gunfire support for Utah Beach.
- Post‑Normandy — Returned to the Pacific for late‑war shore bombardment duty. Survived atomic tests and was ultimately expended as a target and sunk in the late 1940s.
