Historical Background
USS Mississippi (BB-23) was a U.S. Navy pre-dreadnought battleship of the Mississippi class, completed in the 1910–1911 era. She served with the Atlantic Fleet on peacetime cruises, showing the flag in the Caribbean and Mediterranean, and performed convoy-escort and patrol duties during World War I. After the war she spent time as a training and reserve ship and was taken out of front-line service in the early 1920s. Like many pre-dreadnoughts, she was eventually decommissioned and disposed of in the years that followed.
Model Dimensions (Approximate)
