Model History
USS Illinois (BB‑7) was a pre‑dreadnought battleship of the U.S. Navy from the turn of the 20th century. Built as one of the Illinois‑class ships, she entered service in the early 1900s and spent her career in peacetime fleet maneuvers, training cruises, and goodwill visits typical of the era’s battleship squadrons. In the years before and during World War I she was largely used for training, patrol, and support duties rather than front‑line combat. Like many pre‑dreadnoughts, Illinois was rendered obsolete by the new dreadnought type and was retired and disposed of in the years after the war.
Approximate Model Length
The real Illinois measured roughly 374–375 feet overall. At 1/350 scale that converts to about 12.8 inches (≈32.5 cm) long (rounded to the nearest tenth). Note: final kit length can vary slightly depending on bow/stern details, display fittings, or aftermarket parts.
