USS Hopkins (DD-7) — brief history

    • USS Hopkins was an early 20th‑century U.S. Navy destroyer named for Commodore Esek Hopkins, the first Commander‑in‑Chief of the Continental Navy.
    • Built and commissioned in the first decade of the 1900s, she spent her peacetime years on coastal and Caribbean patrols, training exercises, and fleet maneuvers.
    • Like many surviving early destroyers, she was employed on neutrality patrols and escort/anti‑submarine duties during World War I and was decommissioned and disposed of shortly after the war.

    Approximate model length (1/350 scale)

Early U.S. destroyers of that era were roughly 250 feet (≈76.2 m) overall. At 1/350 scale that corresponds to about 8.6 inches (≈21.8 cm) long (rounded to the nearest tenth). If you would like a more exact model length, we can look up the ship’s recorded overall length and recalculate.

        QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

        Ask a Question
        • Is this the USS Hull (DD-7) or the USS Hopkins (DD-6)? [USS Hull (DD-7) was a Hopkins-class destroyer, which was a sub-class of the Bainbridge-class destroyer, in the United States Navy, the second ship named for Commodore Isaac Hull.]

The kit is designed for the Hopkins. That is the plans that come with the kit. We are not sure on how similar the Hull was.
