Brief History — U.S.S. Forrest Sherman (DD-931)
- Lead ship of the Forrest Sherman–class of US Navy destroyers, built in the early Cold War era and named for Admiral Forrest P. Sherman.
- Designed as a post‑WWII multi‑mission destroyer (anti‑air, anti‑surface and anti‑submarine) with modern sensors and weapons for the 1950s fleet.
- Served through the Cold War on Atlantic and Mediterranean/NATO deployments — fleet escorts, exercises, and patrols; many sister ships received mid‑life modernizations.
- Decommissioned in the late 1970s–early 1980s and subsequently disposed of from naval service.
