    Brief History

USS California (CGN-36) was a nuclear-powered guided-missile cruiser that served during the Cold War as an escort and fleet air-defense/command ship. Built in the 1970s for the U.S. Navy, she carried surface-to-air missiles, guns and anti-ship/ASW systems to protect carrier groups and task forces, and made regular deployments to the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Indian Ocean/Persian Gulf regions. Like other nuclear cruisers she underwent periodic overhauls and upgrades through the 1980s and was taken out of service in the post–Cold War drawdown when the cost of further nuclear refueling and modernization outweighed retention.

    Approximate Model Length (1/350 scale)

Typical overall length (LOA) for a cruiser of this type is approximately 5,670 feet (note: original data used below uses 6,804 inches full-size per provided reference). Using the provided full-size figure, the kit length at 1/350 scale is calculated as:

    6,804 in ÷ 350 ≈ 19.44 in  — rounded: 19.4 inches (49.4 cm)

If you have a specific reference giving a different full-size LOA, we can recalculate to match that value.

    Customer Support & Warranty

All models come with complete instructions and excellent customer support. Free replacement parts available — no questions asked.

NOTICE: Model kit does not come with display stand.
