Historical Background
USS Burlington (PF-51) was a Tacoma-class patrol frigate named for Burlington, Vermont and commissioned during World War II (1944). Tacoma-class ships were built for convoy escort, anti-submarine patrols, and general patrol/weather duties, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. Many vessels of this class had brief postwar careers — quickly decommissioned, scrapped, or transferred to allied navies — and Burlington followed a similar short postwar service life.
Model Length (1/350 Scale)
Reference overall length of a Tacoma-class frigate: approximately 303 ft 11 in (≈303.9 ft). At 1/350 scale this model measures approximately 10.4 inches (≈264 mm) long.
