Brief History

- Barry served primarily on Atlantic and Mediterranean patrols and was modified for anti‑submarine warfare (ASW). Typical ASW conversions included improved sonar, ASROC launchers, and facilities to operate DASH/LAMPS unmanned/organic helicopters.
- The ship participated in Cold War deployments, fleet exercises and NATO operations before eventual decommissioning later in the 20th century.
