Model History

USS Bainbridge (DLGN-25 / CGN-25) was a nuclear-powered guided-missile cruiser named for Commodore William Bainbridge. Built in the late 1950s/early 1960s and commissioned in the early 1960s, she was designed for long-endurance escort and air‑defense/ASW picket duties during the Cold War. Bainbridge served with the U.S. Atlantic and Mediterranean fleets on extended nuclear-powered deployments, was reclassified from DLGN to CGN during the 1970s reorganization, underwent periodic overhauls and refuelings, and remained in service into the 1990s before being decommissioned and disposed of.

The full-size Bainbridge is typically listed at about 547 feet overall. At 1/350 scale this kit measures approximately 18.8 inches (about 47.8 cm) long. Published full-size LOA figures vary slightly; depending on the source/measurement the 1/350 kit will generally fall in the ~18.3–19.3 inch (≈46.5–49.0 cm) range.
