Brief History
- USS Apache (ATF-67) was an Abnaki‑class (fleet/ocean) tug built for the U.S. Navy during World War II. Ships of this type performed open‑ocean towing, salvage, firefighting and rescue tasks, often supporting fleet operations in the Pacific and towing damaged warships to safety.
- After the war these tugs continued in peacetime roles—fleet support, search-and-rescue, and salvage—through the Cold War era before being retired, sold or otherwise disposed of as newer tugs replaced them.
Model Length Details (1:350 scale)
Typical overall length of an Abnaki‑class ATF is ~205 feet (≈2,460 inches). At 1:350 scale that gives:
- Calculation: 2,460 in ÷ 350 ≈ 7.0 in
- Estimated model length: 7.0 inches (rounded to the nearest tenth)
