Brief History
HMS Sirius was a Dido-class light anti-aircraft cruiser completed for the Royal Navy in 1942. The Dido class were relatively compact cruisers built around dual-purpose 5.25-inch gun batteries and a heavy fit of light AA armament to protect fleets and convoys from air attack.
Ships of this type spent World War II escorting convoys, screening capital ships, and providing AA and shore-bombardment support in the Mediterranean, Arctic and Atlantic theatres. Many Dido-class cruisers saw intense service during the Malta convoys and other major operations; those that survived the war were largely decommissioned and disposed of in the postwar years.
Approximate Model Length (1/350 scale)
The Dido-class overall length is approximately 512 ft. At 1/350 scale this converts to about 17.6 inches (≈ 44.7 cm), rounded to the nearest tenth.
