Historic Inspiration (Neutral Context)
The Scharnhorst-class was launched in 1936 and commissioned into the Kriegsmarine of Germany in 1939. Alongside her sister ship Gneisenau, Scharnhorst operated in the North Atlantic and took part in several wartime operations, including the interception of merchant vessels and actions during the Norwegian campaign. The ship saw significant service before being sunk at the Battle of the North Cape on December 26, 1943 — an event that had notable consequences for Germany’s surface fleet.
