History

In New York, 1850, a group of yachting enthusiasts from the New York Yacht Club, led by Commodore John Cox Stevens, commissioned the construction of a yacht to demonstrate America's shipbuilding superiority. The America, designed by George Steers and built by William H. Brown, was launched in May 1851, embodying the nation’s maritime aspirations. Crafting the America The America boasted an innovative design with a concave clipper-bow and a sharp stern, optimized for speed and agility. Constructed from sturdy materials like white oak and cedar, it was a testament to both durability and cutting-edge design in maritime engineering. The Journey Across the Atlantic Captained by Richard Brown, a seasoned navigator, America sailed from New York to England in June 1851. The yacht’s arrival in European waters marked the beginning of a bold challenge to the elite British yachting community. The Historic Race On August 22, 1851, America entered the Royal Yacht Squadron's 53-mile race around the Isle of Wight. Overcoming an early setback with a fouled anchor, the yacht showcased its superior design by taking an unconventional route near the Nab Rocks. Finishing 18 minutes ahead of the nearest rival, America's victory was so definitive that it reportedly led Queen Victoria to be informed, "There is no second, your Majesty." Legacy of the America America's triumph at the Isle of Wight not only launched the America's Cup as a coveted international sailing trophy but also cemented its legacy. Renamed and repurposed through the years, the spirit of the yacht continued to inspire long after it was scrapped in 1945, immortalizing its name through the competition it inspired.

The shipment time estimates below apply only to Handcrafted Model Ships products. For Old Modern products, shipping time is similar, but not exact. 

Order Shipment:

If your order is stock and we process the charges to your credit card, it will ship within five business days from the date of your order. The exception is Wye River Models brand, as it may take up to 3 weeks for your order to be shipped. We will send you tracking information within 24 hours of your order leaving the warehouse to the e-mail address you provided when checking out.  If you do not receive tracking information from us within six business days of your order, feel free to follow up with us at orders@AdamaModelShips.com

Delivery Time 
Your order will be processed and leave our supplier's facility within 3-5 business days. You will receive your model in 4 to 12 business days after you place your order (within the continental United States). Again, Wye River Models brand is the exception, as it may take up to 3 weeks for ship.

Example
A shipment within California will take 4 to 6 business days to arrive to you. A shipment to New York will take 5 to 12 business days to arrive to you.

Tracking
It is easy to track your shipment. Upon processing your order, you will receive an e-mail including shipping confirmation and the individual tracking number assigned to your model. Check anytime to see exactly when your model is expected to arrive.
